As a fan of the show, I thought that the writers really screwed with his character. I hated how they had him get married so suddenly and then cheat on his wife! It's just not something I feel his character would have done. Wouldn't it have made more sense if George fooled around with another guy on the show? I think I personally would have been VERY tempted by that money, but I respect his decision to walk away. Many people would have sold out their integrity and beliefs for 14 million bucks!

I used to love the show... but the writing starting SUCKING a couple seasons ago so I quit watching it. The character of George became ridiculous. Useless. He must have been miserable, and then he had those problems with what's his name (dr. burke). That's a lot of money to pass up but hopefully he's socked away some of the money he's already made and will be able to make more elsewhere.

I never really liked his character except the friendship on the show with Burke but we know how that went down :/ Either way I think he did well to leave as he did and the show gave him a good ending with cliffhanger, good last scenes and he died wanting to be a brave trauma surgeon in the war. His character didn't have a purpose anymore so it would have been pointless to keep him around just to set up another failed love story in the show. He already has money now so why not go after his dreams

He could have made a difference and been one of the few openly gay actors working in Hollywood. Most gay actors only come out after the career is over. Typical! Instead he ran like a true wimp.

You can never earn too much money. It sounds wrong and capitalistic, but think about it. With the income you receive you set apart a reasonable amount for yourself and give the rest to your favourite charities/homeless guys with accordions. Wasn't he being selfish in discarding the possibility of giving in the name of his own interests?

I love Grey's Anatomy and one of my favourite characters was George Omally. It's a shame that he's gone but I think he did the right thing and has to do whats best for himself.
