The needle I used and recommend that you use for surface piercings are known as cannula needles/ I.V. port and "the European Method". I used a 12 gauge needle and 16 gauge jewelery, which ensures that the jewelery slips inside the hallow needle and that you won't have to struggle to get the jewelry in a hole that is too small.
Painful Pleasures is by far the cheapest website i have found with jewelery only 4 bucks a barbel compared to to 15-40 bucks on other sites.
also forceps, pliers and gloves are all super cheap.
One last note; please take a look at an anatomy book or chart before you go drilling into your flesh. Ive hit nerves and tendons on the back side of my wrist and on my collar bone in the past. In fact just yesterday I had to remove the piercing on my right hand because it was pushing down on a nerve in one of my fingers. It helps to poke around with a 22 gauge needle first...poke half an inch or so to really make sure nothing important it there. This is risky, but so is the whole thing, no mater how careful you are, so good luck and remember ...its not anywhere near as painful as it looks. Id rate it about the same as piercing cartilage in my ear.

oh yeah for sure haha, Ive done this like 8 times or so on my arms and on my collar bones 4 times, and chin 2 times, i usually use gloves and alcohol and would have opened the packages in front of everyone, but i figured id be lazy and see what the difference would be, and they lasted 8 months no problem, until they got snagged on my girl friend's coat...owch.

i am a body piercer.i have done similar things to myself before i got the "proper training" lol you didnt use the right barbell,im not talking shit cuz i did stupider shit in my past (im only 22) i started piercing myself and friends when i was 13! so im not one to say shit...but cool video.

Surface piercings are always the most fun, I used to do this with random spots when I was younger, but I usually just took them out afterwards, I think just the adrenaline of shoving metal through your skin is awesome. I do have a bunch of normal piercings (face, cartilage) though that I kept in. I think you look like you know what you're doing just fine, people are idiots. Obviously you did something right if they stayed in that long with no problems.

So they lasted about 6 months and i got bored and took em' out. they worked fine. piercing is all about theatrics and the illusion that you need a some shop who charges 100 bucks to get a piercing. I realize i didnt use a punch and taper, didnt use L, Curve or U jewelery ...but WHO CARES....it lasted 6 months....no problems and then i took them out and had no problems afterward with the area.

He obviously knows what he's doing, especially if he's doing it on himself, I actually envy him, cause i would love to lear how to self-pierce. I love piercings and all, but here in Slovenia they are fuckin' to expensive.. I have a few of them and just thinking about how much i've spent gives me a headache..
So yeah, who cares if you're in your boxers and in your living room, i think you've done a nice job.

I did this as a joke just playing around at home to gross people out, i know the punch and tapper method and the traditional one...obviously im in my living room in my boxers just being dumb. but all you tattoo and piercing artist's are such arrogant up tight elitists. Ive pierced over 30 friends (not like this obviously) and my self, and never had a problem. Chill out everybody if it is so terrible and stupid, dont you think i would have had something go wrong by now?
